China has closed crypto exchanges โ€“ but traders and miners can still be active

0

ย

crypto exchanges โ€“ Chinaโ€™s central bank โ€“ the Peopleโ€™s Bank of China (PBoC) โ€“ says all crypto exchanges and peer-to-peer (P2P) trading platforms on the mainland have now been shut down. But it appears that authorities are still waging a battle against crypto mining, as many proponents are said to have moved their activities underground.

Lanjinger reported that the PBoC released its latest quarterly report for fiscal year 2021, in which it made a number of claims about the success of its crackdown on cryptocurrencies launched last September.

The PBoC claimed that it had โ€œ

cracked down on illegal and criminal financial activityโ€ in an effort to โ€œclean up the financial mess.โ€ The PBoC claimed it had eliminated โ€œunlicensed internet-based wealth management institutions and unlicensed payment institutionsโ€ and โ€œequity crowdfunding platforms.โ€

โ€œAllโ€ forms of P2P online lending platforms, including crypto-related platforms, have โ€œceased operations,โ€ it added.

In addition, the authors of the bankโ€™s report claimed that domestic โ€œvirtual currency trading platforms and token issuancesโ€ have been shut down, while access to crypto and currency trading platforms overseas has also been โ€œblocked.โ€

The PBoC claimed that its actions helped reduce the risk of โ€œshadow bankingโ€ and remove unhealthy forms of uncertainty from the economy.

But it is proving difficult to eradicate cryptocurrencies in a country that was once the sectorโ€™s center of gravity. According to GWI data from 2018, a staggering 31% of Chinese internet users were using virtual private networks (VPNs) at the time, while more recent data is unavailable. And while authorities have tried to discourage the use of VPNs by fining users nearly $150 for using the software, remarks made by an athlete at the Beijing Winter Olympics seem to indicate that VPN use is alive and well in the Middle Kingdom.

U.S

The remarks came from U.S.-born Chinese gold medalist in freestyle skiing, Eileen Gu, who claimed on social media that โ€œanyone can download a VPNโ€ in China, according to the transcript. The post appears to have been censored or deleted, suggesting that VPNs are still a sore spot for Chinese cyberpolice.

Although crypto trading has become more difficult than ever, many Chinese Bitcoin (BTC) enthusiasts are believed to remain active in the market, using VPNs and stablecoins such as Tether (USDT) as a gateway. Over-the-counter trading (OTC) is also said to be alive and well.

OTC

And despite claims that crypto mining has been shut down, it appears that the battle against miners is far from over. CLS reports that Guotai Junan Securities, one of Chinaโ€™s largest securities firms, recently issued a notice warning its employees that they will be punished if they mine crypto.

State bodies last year found that a whopping 21% of illegal crypto mining in China can be traced back to state-owned firms and offices. The media outlet published a copy of an internal note from the securities firm warning:

โ€œEmployees are strictly prohibited from participating in virtual currency mining activities in any form. Employees are also required to pay attention to the security of personal office computers to prevent them from becoming infected with [crypto] mining viruses.โ€

Meanwhile, in an official post, the city of Xinzhou, in Shanxi Province, announced that it had set up a reporting network for residents to anonymously tip off police about suspected crypto mining activities in their neighborhoods. crypto exchanges

  • Politicians

  • in Latin American countries are warming up to cryptocurrencies.
  • Indira Kempis, a Mexican Senator will present a new bill aiming to make Bitcoin legal tender.
  • In Brazil, the Senateโ€™s Economic Affairs Committee recently passed a 2019 bill that recognizes crypto markets.

More Latin

American countries are exploring the regulation of cryptocurrencies.

Since El Salvador adopted Bitcoin as legal tender in September 2021, awareness of cryptocurrencies has continued to grow in Latin American countries. Policymakers in ArgentinaBrazil, Panama, and Paraguay have become more open to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies due to the influence of El Salvador and as a possible solution to inflation.

Just this week,

there were new updates from Mexico and Brazil. El Salvador news publication in English reported that Indira Kempis, a politician in the Mexican Senate, plans to introduce a cryptocurrency bill that would mimic El Salvadorโ€™s Bitcoin law and make the main crypto asset a legal tender in Mexico. Kempis has been pro-bitcoin since she took office as a member of the Mexican Senate โ€“ the upper house of the Mexican Congress โ€“ in 2018.

It remains

to be seen whether Kempisโ€™ bitcoin bill will receive sufficient support from other members of Congress. Four months earlier, Mexican President Andrรฉs Manuel Lรณpez Obrador publicly stated that the country had no plans to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender.

Kempis is not the first politician to advocate making Bitcoin legal tender in Mexico. Eduardo Murat Hinojosa, a member of the lower house of the Mexican Congress, had already announced in a tweet in June 2021 that he would โ€œpromote and propose a legal framework for crypto-coins.โ€

Regardless

of whether it becomes law, Kempisโ€™ bill will likely spark a dialogue among policymakers about Bitcoinโ€™s role in the Mexican economy. Rather than making Bitcoin a legal tender, the Mexican government could instead regulate the sector, allowing crypto companies to do business freely. Just last week, Coinbase allowed crypto users in Mexico to exchange their crypto assets for Mexican pesos, an example of how the crypto sector is expanding in the country.

While Mexico

could soon see its first bill to make bitcoin legal tender, another Latin American country, Brazil, is taking steps to regulate the crypto sector. On Tuesday, the Brazilian Senateโ€™s Economic Affairs Committee approved a 2019 bill that includes crypto-asset legislation. The bill โ€œrecognizes and regulates the cryptocurrency market,โ€ according to an official statement. Get You Traffic in 2022

The same bill also includes proposals for tax incentives for bitcoin mining powered by renewable energy sources. While the bill legalizes crypto activities in Brazil, it also aims to crack down on money laundering, tax evasion, and other illegal activities involving cryptocurrencies. The bill will soon be introduced in the Senate so that Brazilian deputies can vote on it .Get You Traffic in 2022

OpenSea smart contract upgrade to delist inactive NFTs on Ethereum

NFTs on Ethereum

As a part of the planned upgrade,

all OpenSea users will need to migrate their existing NFT listings to a new smart contract.

OpenSea, one of the most popular nonfungible token (NFT) marketplace, has rolled out an upgrade to its smart contract, a proactive measure to weed out inactive listings on the platform.

As a part of the planned upgrade, all OpenSea users will need to migrate their NFT listings โ€” currently hosted over the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain โ€” to the new smart contract.

Accordingย to the OpenSea announcement, the NFT listings created before Feb. 18 will automatically expire within a week by Feb. 25 by 2 PM ET:

โ€œTHIS NEW UPGRADE WILL ENSURE OLD, INACTIVE LISTINGS ON ETHEREUM SECURELY EXPIRE AND ALLOW US TO OFFER NEW SAFETY FEATURES IN THE FUTURE.โ€

Upon successful migration, the NFT listing will show the original date of posting. However, once the deadline is crossed, users will be allowed to relist the delisted NFTs over the new smart contract.

During this phase, OpenSea will not charge gas fees for NFT migration butย will invalidate the old Ethereum-based smart contract, effectively expiring the old offers:

โ€œDURING THIS MIGRATION PERIOD, OLD OFFERS ON ITEMS WILL EXPIRE, AND OFFERS MADE ON THE OLD SMART CONTRACT WILL BECOME INVALID.โ€

OpenSea made most of the early-bird advantage in the NFT space to become the largest marketplace for NFT trades.

Reaffirming the technologyโ€™s disruptive financial potential, an Indonesian college student named Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali became a millionaire by selling NFT versions of his selfies on OpenSea.

As Cointelegraph previously reported, Ghozali took selfies, either sitting or standing in front of his computer, which was later converted into NFTs and uploaded to OpenSea in December 2021. Ghozaliโ€™s collection subsequently reached a total trade volume of 317 ETH, equivalent to more than $1 million. NFTs on Ethererum

Website Redesign SEO Checklist: Tips to Avoid Big Drops in Your Rankings

Website Redesign SEO Checklist

Website Redesign SEO Checklist , If your website is no longer reaching its potential, then it might be time for a redesign. One case study found leads improved by 314 percentย following a website redesignย and SEO campaign.

Although redesigns can be expensive, itโ€™s a better option than bleeding money year after year with an inefficient website.

When redesigning your site, itโ€™s important you avoid the pitfalls that can severely hamper your SEO. To help you do this, hereโ€™s my website redesign SEO checklist.

What Is a Website Redesign?

A website redesign involves large-scale changes to your website. During a redesign, elements of your code, content, structure, and visuals may change dramatically, giving your site a completely fresh look.

This is a naturalโ€”and importantโ€”part of a websiteโ€™s development. As much asย 50 percent of consumersย believe website design is an important part of a companyโ€™s brand.

Even if you had the greatest website in the world back in 2001, it would be looking very out of place today if you didnโ€™t make any large changes to it . Hereโ€™s whatย an Amazon web pageย looked like back in 2001.

Website redesign SEO - outdated pages
ย

Design best practices change, technology changes, and your target audienceโ€™s expectations change; your website needs to change to keep up.

Accessibility plays a big part as well. When visiting a site for the first time,ย 38 percent of peopleย will look at the pageโ€™s layout or navigational links.

ย

  • SEOย โ€“ unlock massive amounts of SEO traffic. See real results.
  • Content Marketingย โ€“ our team creates epic content that will get shared, get links, and attract traffic.
  • Paid Mediaย โ€“ effective paid strategies with clear ROI.

BOOK A CALL

Sometimes these will mean making smaller changes as part of a website refresh, but occasionally, youโ€™ll need to make more large-scale changes in the form of a full-scale website redesign. Either way, you need to make sure you are following current best practices so your website redesign SEO isnโ€™t affected.

Benefits of a Website Redesign

Website redesigns arenโ€™t without risk (especially for website redesign SEO), but when done well, they offer significant upside. They can:

  • improve SEO and site performance
  • simplify the user experience
  • refocus your content strategy
  • give your site a facelift
  • offer faster load speeds
  • provide up to date security

The most obvious benefit is since your website serves as a modern-day shop front, you want to make it attractive.

If a physical store has a broken sign, poor lighting, and a dingy interior, itโ€™s going to struggle appealing to people. Itโ€™s the same for a website; if it looks tired and out of date, your visitors are going to wonder if your business is tired and out of date as well.

A website redesign is about more than just a facelift.

It also gives you an opportunity toย change the fundamental structure of your websiteย and make it easier for visitors to navigate. You want to start with the right approach since even doing a simple redesign with basic featuresย can take an average of two monthsย to complete.

Businesses change over time, and as their websites evolve and grow naturally, the structure of the website can become messy. You add new content categories, move things around on your nav bar, switch parent and child pages, and so on.

A simple rule when it comes to design and UX is thatย complicated design is rarely good. You want to make it as simple as possible for your visitors (and bots) to navigate your site and find what theyโ€™re looking for. A website redesign is a great opportunity to do this.

This is an ideal time to evaluate your site, decide on your goals, and create a redesign strategy that can help you achieve them.

When Are Website Redesigns Necessary?

According to a 2020 survey, here are theย top reasons for a website redesign:

  • low conversion rates (80.8 percent)
  • high bounce rates (65 percent)
  • needs better UX (61 percent)
  • not responsive on all devices (53.8 percent)
  • outdated website (38.5 percent)
  • not SEO-friendly (23.1 percent)

It can be tricky to know when a website redesign is necessary. Chances are, youโ€™re investing a good chunk of money in your redesign, so you want to get the timing right.

The thing to remember is user experience is absolutely essential inย digital marketing. Itโ€™s going to show in almost every metric and, ultimately, itโ€™s going to have an impact on your bottom line.

Theย metric closest to most website ownersโ€™ hearts is conversion rate. This can be a big sign that itโ€™s time for a website redesign.

Conversion rates fluctuate, but if yours is in a downward spiral, then it might be time to consider a website redesign. They are alsoย different depending on your industry.

For example, if your website is part of the Real Estate or Home Improvement industries, your conversion rates will be around 7 percent. However, if you are part of the Media & Entertainment industry, itย might be closer to 18 percent.

One of the best ways to know if itโ€™s time to make changes to your website is to use it from the point of view of your visitors. Imagine youโ€™re visiting your site for the very first time and ask yourself these simple questions:

  • Does the branding seem on-point?
  • Do pages load quickly?
  • Is your site laid out in a logical way thatโ€™s easy to navigate?
  • Are your pages optimized for mobile?
  • Is it difficult to find the information youโ€™re looking for?
  • Is your customer journey streamlined enough?

Compare your website to your competitors and see how you stack up. If you find your site is good in certain areas but missing a few details in others, a website refresh might be the answer. If there are lots of things holding you back on the other hand, then itโ€™s probably time for a full website redesign.

Website Redesign SEO Considerations Before Getting Started

The top reason visitors leave a website is due to slow loading timesโ€”88.6 percent of survey respondentsย in a 2020 survey affirmed this. Page speed directly and indirectly affects SEO.

This is just one reason to be vigilant about multiple factors that can affect website redesign SEOโ€” planning a redesign isnโ€™t something that should be taken lightly. The rewards are great when things go right, but can be a nightmare if things do go wrong.

The first step is to consider your goals.

What do you want out of your website redesign? What realistic targets can you set?

To set the right goals, youโ€™ve got to have some benchmarks for your current website performance. Make use of your analytics and come up withย SMART goals.

Once youโ€™ve come up with your goals, then you can begin thinking about a timeline. The important part here is to be realistic. As youโ€™ll see in the website redesign SEO checklist, there are a lot of steps to consider, so make sure you give yourself enough time to do a great job.

Then youโ€™ll need to put together the right team to carry out your vision. Youโ€™ll need talented designers, developers, and content managers to ensure things run smoothly, but donโ€™t underestimate one key element: communication.

Your team needs to be working together and communication is extremely important.

Website Redesign SEO Checklist

This website redesign SEO checklist will help you stay organized throughout the entire process and make sure you donโ€™t miss anything important.

1. Audit Your Existing Content

Content powers many websitesโ€™ organic presence.ย Eighty-two percent of marketersย actively use content marketing, and many successful businesses are built off of it.

A website redesign SEO process has the potential to take your content efforts to the next level, but first, youโ€™ve got to have a good picture of where itโ€™s at.

First, use a tool like Screaming Frog to pull data on all URLs included in your website.

Next, use your analytics andย Ubersuggestย to performย a complete content auditย to determine your most important pages, see which pages are irrelevant or not needed anymore, and which should be redirected or combined with other pages.

Website Redesign SEO Checklist - Audit Your Existing Content With Ubersuggest
ย

Follow these steps and you should have a clear idea of which pages (and keywords) are most important. Look at your traffic stats, rankings, and conversion goals to see where other improvements can be made.

2. Update Information Architecture

Over 60 percent of usersย report leaving a website due to bad navigation. Althoughย website navigation and information architectureย (IA) are different, your IA should inform how your site navigation is structured.

Information architectureย is about how you organize information in your sitemap. Navigation is how you organize your website.

As mentioned earlier, 38 percent of people will look at a siteโ€™s layout and navigational links on their first visit.

Letโ€™s use this example post: โ€œHow to Scale Mt Everest.โ€

If people have to find it by navigating through a tips page, then climbing strategies, then Asian peaks, before finally clicking Mt Everest, itโ€™s going to be nearly impossible to find.

Wouldnโ€™t it be a lot easier if the process could simply beย Peaksย >ย Mt Everestย >ย How to Scale Mt Everest?

How you organize information all depends on what your website is about, why people come to your site, and what information is most valuable.

To update your IA:

  1. Start by creating a map of your current structure.
  2. Do competitor analysis to see how your competition organizes their websites.
  3. Use a tool like Hotjar to see where users click and how they interact with your site.
  4. Using note cards or post-its, write down the main categories for your site.
  5. Next, write your subheadings based on the data youโ€™ve collected.
  6. Write down the URLs for pages you keep, and organize them under the subheadings.
  7. Create a new sitemap based on what you created.

3. Carefully Map URL Redirects

In a Semrush study that analyzed 150,000 websites,ย 42.5 percent of the websites considered hadย broken internal links.

At the beginning, I mentioned how website redesign SEO processes arenโ€™t without risk. The greatest of those risks is the potential of losing a lot of the hard work you put into building your organic profile.

A website redesign is going to change the structure of your entire site. Some pages will get moved, some will even get deleted.

The thing is, small changes can make a big difference in SEO land. As much asย 60 percent of marketers say SEO and content marketingย is their biggest source of leads.

Letโ€™s go back to our amazing article on โ€œHow to Scale Mount Everestโ€ thatโ€™s bringing in lots of organic traffic.

The problem is you posted it in a category thatโ€™s not very accurate, and you gave it a messy URL structure. Naturally,

you want to fix this, so you change the category and URL.

You havenโ€™t even touched the content, but this change can have huge consequences. This is because there are links out there already pointing back to the old URL, so when people (and bots) follow them, they end up at a blank page.

Unless you useย URL redirects, youโ€™re not only losing your referral traffic, but you also lose the page and domain authority those backlinks have already built up.

Essentially, your well-established and successful article has to start from scratch all over again.

Redirects can get very messy with a large website, so itโ€™s important to carefully map them.
